Unintended Consequences

Unintended Consequences is a very useful blog on a mind numbingly boring topic: insurance and financial aspects of (re)insurance.

Although this doesn't sound like an ecstatic recommendation, the blog is definitely worth a close read because this boring topic will be important in the near future.

An ever increasing number of us are paying our own premiums for all kinds of insurances written by private companies and we’re all pretty certain that the companies writing the policies will be around to pay when we need them. On the basis of available information, I’m not so sure. Insurance is becoming ever more complex and I’m not sure how well the industry is being regulated. Read on and I hope to be incorporating the information available here into a longer post on the falling (or maybe already fallen) icons of the free market: Warren Buffet and Hank Greenberg and the General Re and AIG file.
